RANGE RULES

The Goal of Hidden Valley Range is to provide a safe, professional, and challenging shooting experience to the long-range shooting community. It is your responsibility to share in our efforts for safety.

 

Hidden Valley Range is part of an active farm/ranch. There will be times when cattle are present. It is your responsibility to see and avoid livestock. If there is an animal shot. This will be your responsibility. They will be replaced at twice retail prices.

There will be no range officers present for the day to day use of the range. You, the member, will be acting as a range officer. Please, if you see something say something. If someone is addressing you please be respectful and comply with their comments. As always, the managers of Hidden Valley Range want feedback if something has failed. It will be repaired as soon as practical.

There are many shooting lanes designed to keep you and the other members safe.  As you can see from the web site, there will be time slots and shooting stations available for you to reserve on our app. We need to know who is at the Range at all times, therefore you must sign up on the app. If you are the only shooter present, please feel free to move to the different stations. The shooting stations are designed to back your vehicle in far enough to provide protection to you and the other shooters. 

Caliber and Firearm Restrictions:

  1. No 338 Lapua, 338 Ultra mag, 50 cal or larger. These are too hard on the steel targets.
  2. No Pistols.
  3. No Shotguns.
  4. No Rim Fire.

Ammo and Bullet requirements: 

  1. There will be no green tipped or armor piercing bullets. If you put a hole in a target you will be expected to replace it. 
  2. The velocity of a bullet at impact will be under 3000 feet per second to insure the life of the targets.
  3. No tracers, No incendiary devices, No Steel Core bullets.

Age Requirements:

 0 – 8 years old — Not allowed on any portion of the range. Young children may not be left unattended in vehicles in the parking lot.

9 – 17 years oldThe Child must be accompanied by a parent and stay with the parent. Proof of age will be required upon request.

Adult — Please us common sense while utilizing the range.

Standard rules:

  1. Shooters are responsible for the control of their firearm(s) at all times.
  2. Keep all firearms unloaded until at the firing line. This is defined as Bolt open, Magazines out of fire arm.
  3. Assume all firearms are loaded.
  4. Be aware of muzzle positions at all times.
  5. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  6. Be sure of your target. You are only allowed to shoot at the steel targets.  If something doesn’t look correct, stop shooting so that it will be safe.
  7. Eye and ear protection are required at all times. Music or cell phone earbuds are not permitted. It is your responsibility to be aware of what is around you.
  8. NO RAPID FIRE. OR FULL AUTOMATIC SHOOTING WILL BE TOLERATED. MEMBERSHIP WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REVOKED!
  9. No uncased firearms of any kind are allowed down range.
  10. No handling of firearms while any shooter or Range safety officer is down range. Place the firearm on the ground or in the back of your vehicle.
  11. Accidental or negligent discharge will be reported. The range must keep track of all bullets fired down range.
  12. You may walk or drive to the 100 yard backer board to place a paper target. Please place paper targets at least 10 inches below the top of the target backer.  This is the lower half and middle of the backer board to protect the framework. Please take your targets home with you. 
  13. Walking or driving past the 100 yard backer board will be considered Trespassing, unless you have written approval from the Range owner.
  14. Carbine range (lanes 1-7. 100-500 yard targets) Shoot only to the North of the red Combine and Grain Bin out in the distance.
  15. Long range (lanes 8-10. 200-1100 yard targets338 L) Shoot only to the South of the red Combine and Grain Bin out in the distance.
  16. NO painting steel targets is allowed.
  17. Pick up after yourself. All garbage and all brass.
  18. No Drugs or Alcohol at any time. ZERO tolerance. MEMBERSHIP WILL BE FORFEITED.
  19. No pets on the Range.
